Chili’s New Pick-a-Pepper Menu
You can stop in at your local Chili’s to try the new menu selection known as ‘Pick-A-Pepper.’ Playing off their name Chili’s, they want you to know there’s more to chile peppers than just spice. From sweet to heat, we’re showcasing a new line of dishes displaying the versatility and multiple flavors of chiles. To help you decipher which chile will pack a punch and which won’t, a ‘pepper guide’ is in each new menu and its a great less for the dinner at hand and those of your future.
Some of the new menu items are:
Smoky Chipotle Chicken Fajitas – Sizzling grilled chicken, sautéed onions and bell peppers kicked-up with chipotle pesto sauce and melted Monterey Jack cheese. Topped with crispy onion strings.
Santa Cruz Steak – 100% USDA Choice 6 oz. sirloin topped with seasoned butter and a side of tangy verde sauce. Served over fire-roasted corn salsa with jalapeño-cheddar mashed potatoes.
Roasted Red Pepper Grilled Chicken – Grilled chicken breast served over a zesty roasted red pepper cream sauce. Topped with melted pepper Jack cheese and served with rice and steamed broccoli.
Chipotle Salmon – Seared Cajun-spiced salmon with a smoky chipotle-garlic pesto cream sauce. Served with rice and steamed broccoli.
The Santa Cruz Steak, Smoky Chipotle Chicken Fajitas and Roasted Red Pepper Grilled Chicken are even on the 2 for $20 menu as a great offer for guests, that menu is one of our favorites because you can include an appetizer and the deal can’t be beat!
Our Take: We purchased the 2 for $20 and we got a ton of delicious food. For our appetizer, we whet our palate with the spicy salsa and tortilla chips to get us ready for more tang from the meals to come. The plate is just overflowing with chips and the kids can enjoy some too!
I ordered the Santa Cruz Steak. The seasoned butter on top kept the meat moist at every bite. Since I do prefer a well done steak, I was happy to say that this was cooked perfectly and still had so much flavor and was juicy, one of the best steaks I’ve had in a restaurant in a long time! I dipped my steak in the verde sauce, I can’t tell you all what was in it, but it was really good and I could only pinpoint cilantro. At this point, not too much spice until I lifted my steak and found the fire-roasted corn salsa! This was so good, but there was just not enough of it, maybe just a tablespoon’s worth. Instead of the potatoes I could have eaten a heaping of that salsa with it’s fine pieces of tomato, onion, and jalepeno, that packed a nice kick of spice! 
The mashed potatoes had what was supposed to be jalepeno-cheddar cheese on top, but the cheese was not melted nor did I detect an ounce of jalepeno! That was a bummer. Overall, my meal was delicious and I’d order it again and definitely inquire about the potatoes or ask for more corn salsa!
My hubby ordered the Roasted Red Pepper Grilled Chicken and he loved it. He normally is a beef eater and rarely orders chicken in restaurants. This plate he couldn’t stop raving over. He loved the pepper-jack cheese atop the chicken and the red pepper cream sauce was mild but gave just enough spice to the meal where it was not bland with the rice and broccoli. It was nice too because the cream sauce was there for dipping when my husband prefers the dark meat to the chicken breast, this kept his chicken moist and he would order it again.
Our choices on this Pick-a-Pepper menu were pretty safe, but we’re eager to go back and try another set of items like the Spicy Shrimp Tacos and the Sweet and Spicy Chicken which has habenero chiles in it, the hottest on the list!
