Kung Zhu Battle Toys
Last year, my kids and I reviewed Zhu Zhu pets, the hamster toy phenomenon that you don’t have to feed and water! My kids loved them, they took over the living room, but they provided hours of fun and I loved that they sort of had a mind of their own, well thanks to batteries!
The newest craze is Kung Zhu, these warrior hamsters are tougher than the earlier cuddly Zhu Zhu Pets that everyone fell in love with last year. They are ultra cool tough pets and will be a sure competition to the original Zhu Zhu Pets. With eight original characters split into two battling groups called Special Forces and Ninja Warriors, Kung Zhu Pet owners will have the thrill of training each character to transform fighting, battling warriors. While these Kung Zhu hamsters may start of as “cute” and “mild-mannered” once they are sent into their main training grounds, smart chip technology will actually allow you to hear a distinct personality transformation of fighting ninja and warriors.
Once transformed, you can arrange ultimate battles between your Special Forces and Ninja Warriors Kung Zhu Pets! These tough hamsters will evolve into Special Force Warriors after training in either the Alpha or Bravo training grounds with different weapons, armors and defense technology. In the meantime, your Ninja Warriors will transform into rough fighters after training in their Samaurai and Ninja grounds using their own weapons and armors. Each of these Ninjas has a hieroglyph or Dragon symbol on its bright and colorful fur while the Special forces have either a star or comet army sign. It’s oddly cute and the kids have once again taken over the living room and are having a blast.

Our take: This time, my husband was completely overwhelmed by all the toys. He instructed that the kids put it together, because he remembered how long it took. We didn’t have the complete set, but my 9 year old set to work with little help from his sisters (4 and 11). After about 45 minutes he had it ready for battle. The two warriors they got were Yama and Thorn and they let them loose in the arena. They loved sending the hamsters down the Special Forces Training Center because it had a faux stone wall that breaks each time it hits. My youngest would set it up, with my son breaking it down. The giggles, pows, and other sound effects were so funny to listen to as well as the noises coming from the Kung Zhu pets.Again, Zhu Zhu pets have been a hit in our household. If I can only get my husband to understand that they CAN be put away and stored and not take over half our living room!
Kung Zhu toys can be found at Toys ‘R’ Us and will provide hours of entertainment.
