Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps

My 11 year old has taken ballet for 6 years and loves to help my four year old who is just finishing her first year. With two dancers in the house, you can imagine that Angelina Ballerina has been a favorite television show to watch! With adorable story lines as well as instructional ballet moves, the girls have loved putting on their tutus and making a grand event while watching! The Next Steps is a new series on PBS Kids that takes Angelina onto a new performing arts academy where she meets new friends as well as new styles of dance.

About Angelina Ballerina The Next Steps

The new CG-animated series will introduce fans to Angelina’s new home on the other side of Chipping Cheddar, a new performing arts school — Camembert Academy, new friends, a new teacher, Ms. Mimi, and many new adventures. Angelina Ballerina The Next Steps celebrates music and brings to life new forms of dance for Angelina including ballet, modern, tap, jazz, classic and ethnic. Angelina always works hard to reach her goals and learns from her mistakes. As kids share in Angelina’s experiences, they’re inspired to pursue their big dreams too!

By incorporating all genres of dance from ballet to ballroom to hip hop and more, the series introduces children to the art of dance and helps them to understand and appreciate the basic joys of movement, artistic expression, musicality, imagination and coordination. A team of dance instructors and choreographers helped to develop the dance curriculum incorporated throughout the show. In addition, creative consultants from American Ballet Theatre spent time with series producers to help accurately choreograph the dance movements that are animated on the program. The dance consultant team also helped to ensure that all dance moves within the series are age-appropriate for the characters.

To celebrate the new show, the Angelina Ballerina book by Katharine Holabird, and a Angelina tee were sent to me and my daughter was thrilled! The tee contains ballet slippers, Angelina, flowers and a heart in pinks and purples and is adorable for any sweet girl! The book is a hard-cover story about how Angelina’s dancing about the house caused some issues like not doing her chores and making messes which eventually led her to getting enrolled in dance class.
